wheels and tyres for 150 prado

2 inch Lift Kit | Wheels | Tyres

I’ve kept within the legal max lift for lift and tyres. “For vehicles with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), vehicle owners will be able to raise their vehicles up to 75mm (incorporating a maximum of 50mm suspension and 25mm tyre increase) without certification.

NOTE: These notes relate to QLD laws.

Don’t take my word for it , consult a specialist.

Lift Kit

With all the extra weight added (bull bar, winch, roof rack, dual battery, fridge etc) the ground clearance (and breaking) was pretty bad. Next step was the suspension upgrade. Being the Kakadu model with KDSS and airbags, choice was limited.
Many choose to rip out the rear bags. Even though I currently don’t tow much, I know how fantastic the self-levelling system is when you do.

After a bit of research, and asking around, I was told that Dobinson’s did a good kit.
Bit over $3k later – I am very happy with the outcome.
The Ride Height / Eye Brow Height (vertical distance from center of wheel to the edge of the guard) is now 525 mm (front)
and rear floats between 550 - 605mm (depending on The Airbags height).
The ground clearance (with all upgrades) is now 235mm (to the UVP).

At the time of posting this, it seems they have removed the self-levelling kit from their website https://www.dobinsonsprings.com/toyota/toy-100

Wheels

The 17x8 is a really good size for the Prado. Great for basic offroad and sand alike.

Tyres

The Falken Wild Peak AT3W were recommended to me, and I don’t think I will ever change. They are relatively low noise on the highway, very capable in the muddy stuff and sand (when deflated) and last a million years.
